I'm sorry I mistyped it has a skeg not a rudder.  If you have either one it
helps a lot to navigate.  The smaller and shorter kayaks are a little more
difficult to navigate in any current.

The Tarpon is my choice for fishing.  It's on my list.  We have four kayaks
right now the one we use for fishing is a perception with a wider profile
and flat bottom.  It still has a rudder to help out. 
Be sure to get a wider profile not a touring kayak or you will be doing a
"Don & Jerry" with all your gear.  ;0)
