Who here uses
braided loop
leader connectors? I was
considering putting it on my 6/7 weight but have heard it kind of kinks things
during the cast? Just
curious what your views are as opposed to connecting the line directly to the
leader.
I use them and haven't had any problems with them. I use the one's
Orvis puts out, and tend to use one that's designated for a lighter
line. For example, one that's for 3, 4 weight on my 5 or 6 wgt.
What I do is cut the fly line at a sharp angle and work it up the braid to the
base of the loop. Then I take some Aqua Seal and work it into the braid
till it's saturated. There's usually a small piece of tubing that comes
with the braided loop. I just slide it down to just before the end of the
braid, work a little more Aqua Seal into the braid. Let it set up and dry
and I'm in business.
