Buck, If it is a "C" I would say the knot broke. If it is a "Pig tail" the knot came apart. I started using the Lefty Krech twist on my improved clinch knots several years ago and have not had a "pig tail" on years.Start the knot as you normally would. After going through the lower loop, make three wraps with the tag end around the twisted part of the knot before going through the upper loop. It is worth the couple of seconds it takes to do that.
