All I can say is, you better have a clear bank behind you, and no overhanging branches above you. If you feel you must get farther out in the water, get a belly boat, float tube, canoe, kayak, or a pontoon boat, and cast your 8 footer from one of them before wasting your money on a 10 foot rod.
