I have 4 IMX rods. 2 are 10 feet in length, a 3wt and a 4 wt I enjoy fishing
them both I normally use the 3wt for dry flies and the 4wt when fishing
nymphs. I also have a 9' and a 9'6" 6wt that I use on lakes where I need a
heavier rod to handle the strong winds that always seem to blow in my area.
The longer rods help with line control.the only down side is in heavier wts
they can fatigue your arm as there is more leverage working against you when
casting.

I just finished building my new Sage XP 9 ft. 5 wt. , something I have
wanted to do ever since I cast an XP four or five years ago.
I also have Loomis IMX 7 wt. blank I bought on ebay about 3 years ago and
decided to wrap it too. After gluing on the reel seat, handle and tip I
laid the rod out to measure the guide spacing... and was shocked to find
it was a 10 foot blank! I am certain that it was listed as a 9 foot rod
on ebay.
I'm going to finish building it anyway.
Have any of you fished with a 10 foot rod? Any comments as to
advantages? Have any of you cast or fished with the IMX blank?
