Chuck,

Prices of such flies are determined entirely by demand. Doesn't mean the
dollar values mean much to me. I've got a few flies tied by Tony (mainly
from Tom Nixon fly swaps plus a froggie) none of the will see the water (none
of the Nixon swap flies have either. I also have a ,56%er tied by Tom
Nixon, and with Tom gone you can bet that one won't either. A couple years ago
a shadow box of Tom's flies constructed by another very good fly tier (who
died about 6 months after Tom) was auctioned off at a dinner for the Baton
Rouge conclave...fetched something like $750-800.

Tom's fly and all three editions of his book are staying in my collection while
I'm alive...after that who knows what they'll be worth then? By the way, I
have no plans of departing soon...

too, cause in 50 years or so, I plan to tie just as good as Tony.. Then you'll
be able to say you had one of my first flies.. I mean, I'll only be 98 years
old.. Heck, I'll have plenty of years left to get better and better ROFL...

Seriously, your letter here did get me to thinking.. Outside of sentimental
value, say somebody had one of Dave Whitlock's first deer hair flies, not
knowing he'd have the fame in that area that he does today, what would a fly
like that be worth???

Picked up my flies today. Nice job everyone on peppers. They'll all
see water except Tony's that will join the size 20 Froggie he gave me many
moons ago in the swap flies I don't fish box.
Nice job with the swap, Chris.
