"Bluegill often eat insect larvae or other small, relatively slow-moving
creatures. Their mode of suction feeding causes a rapid and accurate inrush of
water, which may serve to dislodge creatures clinging to sticks or plants.
Bass, in contrast, suck in more water at a slower speed.
But bass compensate by swimming rapidly toward their prey. This forward
motion increased the effective fluid speed into the mouth, but it does at the
expense of accuracy. As a result, the prey-capture efficiency(accuracy index)
of bass is only about half that of bluegills."
