I'm pretty sure you already know to wrap the herl around your thread and
then wrap the "rope" created by the herl and the thread for your thorax
right?

That should keep the herl from unwinding unless of course your thread
breaks.   :-)

take my bodkin a pick at the herl just a bit to see if it is tied down
pretty good. if it is, I'll leave off the glue on these particular fly cause
I wanted the herl to be soft and pliable on these. That was my plan anyway.
I think i may even lead the "hard as nails" off the thread body as i think
some of it is "wicking" up into the herl from the backside of the fly as
well..It has that hard bead head. I think it needs some parts to be soft to
"balance" it..If that is what you'd call it..Thanks again, Chuck
