Please don't. As Mike already pointed out there is no rel-attribute on the  
<img> element. If anything you should use a class for it (e.g. <img  
class="thumbnail"... />). Not to mention that it won't solve your problem.  
The "thumbnail" still needs to be linked to the video so you need some  
kind of wrapper. One way is to assume that any image inside a  
rel="enclosure" that points to a video file should be regarded as a  
thumbnail for that video file. I would take a long, hard look at the  
mark-up Enric use for his vPIP plugin before doing anything else (he uses  
a class="hvlog" to wrap around the video links).

But don't jump into this head first. The issue has come up on the  
microformats-discuss list more than once and there are people over there  
thinking thoughts (look for media metadata discussions). Discussion should  
take place there or on the video-vertigo group. It's much to technical for  
this list.
