We use copy cataloguing whenever it's available so not as consistent as
some of the classification schemes mentioned so far.

To all who are using LC in some way, is it your catalogers who are
assigning call numbers or are you using copy records that already have
them?

Ours are cataloged using LOC and then by title, but we get complaints
that they are not set up by genre.
PN 1992.77 -- TV series
PN1997 -- older classic movies
PN 1997.2 -- new movies
PN 1997.5 - animated

*Subject:* [Videolib] media cataloging question
Our cataloging folks have been cataloging our circulating DVDs as
(mostly) PN 1995.9, then organized by genre. They claim they could
catalog more quickly if they began using some other PN number, then
organizing them by director or by title.
Is this true? I am not a cataloger. Obviously.
Do other academic libraries use LOC to catalog their DVDs? If so, do
you use PN 1995.9, or something else?
