Maureen! Alas, here at USC we use just a very simple sequential numbering system for our dvds. The last dvd added to our collection has been assigned the call number LVYDVD 4779, the next one added will be LVYDVD 4780, and so on and so forth. All rather mindless and annoying. >:o

Cheers,
Anthony

Our cataloging folks have been cataloging our circulating DVDs as (mostly) PN 1995.9, then organized by genre. They claim they could catalog more quickly if they began using some other PN number, then organizing them by director or by title. Is this true? I am not a cataloger. Obviously. Do other academic libraries use LOC to catalog their DVDs? If so, do you use PN 1995.9, or something else? Maureen Tripp
