Nice to learn that viking helped you. Concerning your patch, I'm not tryed it yet, but I think such feature already exists in viking: viking is already able to load georeferenced images. But it is not really easy to use as you have to provide an image + its "world" file.
IMHO, your idea is quite good: a simpler layer where the user just set the image and then provides coordinates. I have idea to evolve this patch: it would be usefull if the user can set arbitrary georeference points. For example: 1) the user create the map layer and set the image file 2) via the property dialog he is able to clic a point on the map (certainly an existing marker) and then set its coordinate 3) the same way, the user add a second (perhaps a third) georefernced point. I remember I started a dedicated tool for this, but never finish it: http://home.gna.org/imggeoref/ Inserting such feature inside viking could be really good. -- Guilhem BONNEFILLE -=- JID: gu...@im.apinc.org MSN: guilhem_bonnefi...@hotmail.com -=- mailto:guilhem.bonnefi...@gmail.com -=- http://nathguil.free.fr/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us!
