Oops! I think you're right. I must've been thinking of another feature
where we got further (bidi text or smoother scrolling or something).
I think as far as we got is a 'model' for how mappings should work.
Approach 4 built on all our discussions and clearly set out how mappings
should conceptually work. There were a number of other raised but
unresolved issues, too. We should gather them together into a neat list,
resolve them (or agree not to resolve them) and then make some kind of
roadmap/implementation plan.
