As has been pointed out, runtime files are different. Some of them are maintained in separate repositories, so contributors get credit there (check the Codeowners file). Then you can tell by all the "I'll iclude" messages at closed PRs that people contributed. But you have to draw a line somewhere. Where should it end, should we also credit people who gave feedback? What about the people that found a bug? Shouldn't they also be credited? What about people who helped with the infrastructure? Shouldn't those be credited? What about random articles on the internet criticizing Bram? Do they deserve credits?
