It's for a reason: and that reason is that we use our computers to do more than we did before. Just to name two examples: photos and music. Used to be that you'd have rolls of negatives and a photo album, and on your shelf you'd have stacks of discs and LPs. Now we store and listen on computer. Also, computer art has been around since the 70's, maybe even earlier. It used to be primitive, but now we want more effects and colors, so we need bigger computers to do those things. So basically, the computer has changed to keep up with _our_ demands (being the general public).
