You cannot turn off multifinder with system 7, so you have no choice
but to run system 6. That isn't the worst thing that could happen to
you, is it?
Like Deven said, start up from a floppy (with system 6 that one is
called system tools, not disk tools) and run your 'looking inside...'
program from hard disk or second floppy drive.
