So now we just have to find a really old version of MacroMind Director,
back when it replaced VideoWorks.

I probably know more that I should :)

My guess is that simply messing around a bit with ResEdit won't fix it.  If
it requires MultiFinder and the RAM cache to be off, that's probably an
inherent limitation of the runtime programme itself and can't be solved
with a bit of resource editing.
