All-right, I got a lot of good ideas from your side, and this is what I
found out so far:
VideoWorks 4.0 by MacroMind is the ancestor of
MacroMind Director which is the ancestor of
MacroMedia Director which is the ancestor of
Director Shockwave by Macromedia.
I took the pain of downloading a trial of Director Shockwave 8.5 hoping
that this application would hopefully open and update my presentation. In
vain, it didn't even realize they were "from the same blood".
It's - as pickle presumed - a standalone presentation including a player.
Bearing in mind Deven's recommendation, I opened "Looking Inside
Macintosh IIfx" with ResEdit. Now, I realized that "finder flags" was
already on 7.x. So, I'll install MacOS 7.1 on a separate partition to see
wether it works in this surroundings.
While in ResEdit, I compared this presentation to a similar-one on
MacLinkPlus 9 (Macromedia Director 4.0.4) and one on ClarisWorks 5
(Macromedia Director 5.0.1) and changed the creator code to the one of
the MD 4.0.4 version to see what happen. This made the icon appear like
the one of the later version.
I do not have the slightest idea of ResEditing, but it seems to my that,
may be, this annoying "turn MultiFinder and RAM-cache off" could be
removed, provided the correct resources are altered.
Do you master ResEdit?
Best thanks. Steff
