i have a macintosh lc III running system 7.1 I have a windows network. If i were to install a ethernet card, would it access the windows computers, and the internet?? At the jr. high i attended last year, there were two seperate sides of the computer lab. Macintosh and Windows. I use a imac at school running system 9 and acessed the internet and files from windows computers. Can i do the same from system 7.1?

Mactpc or Open transport should work fine once you have the network card installed, sharing files on the windows machine will require something else. Say Basilisk and a bit of fun or a ftp sort of server.
Thankfully windows (well 98se and up) comes with internet connection sharing so you dont need a router.
Why people continue to recommend open transport for connection with these lowend machines is beyond me, dialup maybe but if your just hooking up to a hub/router/switch why bog the poor mac down with it?
If you use OT install 1.1.1 then 1.1.2. Mactpc 2.06 works ok.

Blah blah blah FAQs

Have fun. :)
