Just want to say thanks for sovling the Asante ethernet problem.
I put a dumb 10mb hub between it and that router and I'm all set.

What are most people browsing with? I picked up icab, it's pretty decent.

Is there any way to get streaming media on the IIci?

Thomas

The cables are good. The Mac says I've got OT 1.1.2
I'm running OS 7.5.5. I think you're right about the
auto sensing router and switch.
Where do I find a dumb hub? The Linksys one I found
is an auto sensing hub.

How can I see if the Asante card is even showing up
in the system?
Is there a way to set the Mac on a static IP? I
don't have any idea how to do this with the router.

Download the free OTTool from www.neon.com, it's a very useful network utility.

If you want to get 100 megabit from the Asante card,
you don't want to use a 10 megabit hub.

What you need is a managed switch where you can
remotely set the speed and duplex settings of each
port. These are configured in various ways, by Telnet,
web browser, proprietary program, etc.

Since you're running System 7.5.5, the Asante test
program should run.
