I notice that G3 iMacs still sell for about $100 or more on eBay. I've got a PowerMac 7100/66 with a 266MHz Sonnet Crescendo G3 upgrade. It runs OS9, and IE5 just fine. I'd like to get Word and Excel on it as well. Too bad OpenOffice.org only works for OS X.
My "new" computers aren't that great, either. The 7100/G3 is the fastest Mac I have. My laptop is the only one to break 1GHz (at 3.0GHz), which I just bought a few months ago. Other than that, my other computers are 200, 300 and 550MHz. And, I run the latest programs without any problems. The main problem (?) is that computers are just so damned cheap anymore. I "affectionately" call Dell the computer of the month club, because that's how they market their computers.
