I did over 300 miles from Hobbs, NM to Albuquerque several years ago, pulling
an engine-less beetle with my little S-10 pickup.

Aside from what's already been said - key on, steering wheel unlocked, I have
one thing to comment on, that I would love some collaboration on: at slow
speeds, especially just when starting from a stop, both front wheels on the
beetle would do this horrible shimmy-shimmy-shake that really freaked me out!
It only lasted seconds, but the first time it happened to me, I slammed on the
brakes, and walked around and around, double-checking everything, trying to
figure out what was wrong...

I have since been told, "yeah, they do that" - that it's normal, and not to
worry about it. It happened more than once, but evened out & stopped once I
got above the speed of a brisk walk/run....but, as I said - it really freaked
me out the first time it happened!

Was I told correctly? Is that more or less a normal occurrence for towing a
ACVW?
