I was researching rust removal through electrolysis... you know, where you use
your battery charger, some washing soda & rebar for electrodes, and you remove
the rust electrically... I first started researching it for tool
reconditioning, say, for a Stanley woodworking plane. I came upon a page
where someone had used the technique to de-rust the inside of their motorcycle
gas tank. It involved mounting the rebar electrode rigidly in plexi, to make
sure it didn't touch the metal of the tank.

I can't find that particular page, but here are some other pages...
<http://www.motorcycleanchor.com/motorcycle/how_to/mc_tankrust.html> (section
"E")
<http://twinoak.altelco.net/~jacil/clay/motorcycle/KElecSetup.html>

Has anyone done something like this on their VW tank?

Is "Kreem" the stuff to stay away from? One of those pages above say to stay
away from it...
