Sorry for the late response on this thread.
The friend in question was faced with the issue that he wanted to fit
aftermarket alloy wheels on a 67 which had the ribbed drums. These interfered
with the fit and we were wondering if the smooth types could be swapped in
place of the originals.
So if the earlier ones would not fit the balljoint ones then its not
possible at least on the front.
