Yeah Dennis I remember that when Jeremy did the church choir thing! He went through here and performed at a church in Aurora, NE. He stayed here at our house for a day and back then, we were looking for a place to hold a nationwide VW gathering. Well it never panned out but I still remember the topics as being BIE98 with hopes of holding it here in Beatrice in the center of the USA. That same weekend Jeremy and his friend were here, we had a big snow and I was trying to show him and his friend Indian Lake Rec area down by Wymore, NE. As we drove along this 2 lane road, there were abandoned cars all over it and it hit me that these cars were snowed in the week before. We went through a snowdrift that had been plowed through and the walls were taller than my 71 Westy! That same trip I had an oil bottle melt and dump oil into my heating system and we fogged out the back of the bus. Ah memories! LOL!
In a way, I'm glad for those who sort of "moved on" and now have families and such. As for myself, I suffered massive PTSD/Depression issues since 9/11 and have had to reinvent myself numerous times. Through it all, I *NEVER* lost my zest for the air-cooled VWs and still, just as it was then, I only like to drive air-cooled VWs. Jeremy still is gung-ho for them too. Back then in the late 90s, the net was new and a lot of people jumped on the bandwagon. I'm sure some people enjoyed having an ego and being admired, others were wannabees, and still others probably wrote it off as a passing fancy. I'm still NQ and still drive air-cooleds and maybe before long, I'll have a wife who is ACVW the whole way too. :) Nice to see some of you are still around and on the list. I'll be pulling my engine in Li'l Red in a couple months and redoing the front suspension so if I get enough people interested, I'd gladly post pictures. Thanks for writing - nice to hear from some of the old die-hards! :) Erin _______________________________________________ vintagvw site list [email protected] http://lists.sjsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/vintagvw
