Hello all,

You guys are lucky. Have the choice to choose between the good, bad and
the ugly. Over here in Pakistan we get the ugly, uglier and the ugliest!!

We get brand new brazil bumpers but mostly the Europa types are imported.
The blade ones have comparitively less demand. Post 68 beetles are more en
vogue here, interestingly. Towel rails have never been seen here brand new.
Over the years, at the shops I have seen at least three qualities of bumpers,
all Brazilian.

Over the years (Yes that reads YEARS) I have managed to source a very nice
rear original towel rail and a fair to acceptable front towel rail for my 59
ragtop beetle project.

There was this plan to get local chrome done on old brightwork by a better
process than what is usually available here. The local old car club members
were god fathering the process setup. If memory serves right, it was supposed
to be a three stage process..... copper, nickel and then chrome. The chemicals
required were quite expensive and a minimum customer base was needed. Plus the
chemicals were said to get spoilt if the process was not kept in circulation.

Best regards,

Asad
