Can't remember, since it's been close to ten years. I do remember having a lot of stuff custom plated while building my car, and a lot of that stuff was expensive and took a long time to complete. I remember the bumpers being somewhat less than I expected, and the turnaround time was only 2-3 days. I'd wager that a single Euro-blade will cost something like $100 to have plated if used, and likely less if brand new (because there would be very little pre-polishing involved). Still expensive, but I've seen complete "German" bumpers with overriders that have been "professionally plated" selling for five times that (CIP once sold a set that even came wrapped in velvet to keep them from getting scratched during shipping, although I don't see them on their site anymore).

The cheap stuff is merely chrome over bare metal, but the minimum is a layer of copper, followed by a layer of nickel, and then the chrome. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Greg Sent: February-26-09 6:36 PM To: Air-Cooled Volkswagen Discussion List Subject: Re: [vintagvw] Triple plate chrome bumper blades (UNCLASSIFIED) The bumpers at bfyobsolete is the same price that I payed for mine and it appears they have the same plastic spacer between the over riders and the bumper blade. So....if I may ask, how much to have the bumpers "professionally" done?
