Can't remember, since it's been close to ten years. I do remember having a
lot of stuff custom plated while building my car, and a lot of that stuff
was expensive and took a long time to complete. I remember the bumpers
being somewhat less than I expected, and the turnaround time was only 2-3
days. I'd wager that a single Euro-blade will cost something like $100 to
have plated if used, and likely less if brand new (because there would be
very little pre-polishing involved). Still expensive, but I've seen
complete "German" bumpers with overriders that have been "professionally
plated" selling for five times that (CIP once sold a set that even came
wrapped in velvet to keep them from getting scratched during shipping,
although I don't see them on their site anymore).

FYI, professional plating is at minimum a three layer electro-plating
process (I *hate* it when people refer to it as "dipping" -- this isn't a
simple painting process). The cheap stuff is merely chrome over bare metal,
but the minimum is a layer of copper, followed by a layer of nickel, and
then the chrome.

The bumpers at bfyobsolete is the same price that I payed for mine and
it appears they have the same plastic spacer between the over riders and
the bumper blade.

So....if I may ask, how much to have the bumpers "professionally" done?
