Hi, Dean, Is it hard off-white nylon? With a round locking ring?
Can't tell for sure, but it sounds like your shift-rod bushing. It goes into the hole in the bulkhead just aft of the shifter; the ring locks it; and it keeps the shift rod from rattling, scraping, binding, etc. A little universal grease won't hurt it. I notice there is a metallic and plastic 'ring' on the shift rod at the front. Is this a shipping thing or should it stay on? I've never seen a clean transaxle before and can't identify it. IRS BTW Thanks. -- Visit the VintagVW archives at http://mail-archive.com/[email protected] --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "VintagVW - Air Cooled Volkswagen Discussion List" group.
