Ah. That makes more sense: it doesn't "reset" the phone; it simply
causes a crash. On my phone, I can't reproduce the crash so it must
depend on a few factors. But your explanation makes a lot more sense:
I wondered how this could possibly be a normal reset! The springboard
by the way guys, is only a portion of the iOS operating system so the
entire device is not rebooted when you do this.

Anyways, when you crash any computer you're liable to lose data or
corrupt some settings, so personally I would never recommend forcing a
crash. On the other hand, iOS as I said is pretty resilient, so
causing true system "corruption" would be very very difficult indeed.
