I would agree with this assessment. Unfortunately, the IPhone, maybe
more so for us, is still a mobile device and is not in every respect a
computer replacement. Of course that very much depends on the task and
to some degree how proficient you are at that task. For e-mail it is
more convenient and even faster to just check mail on the IPhone, but
the IPhone TTS is seriously lacking in my opinion. This is assuming
using the HQ voice Jill US English. Her pronounciations are terrible.
She stumbles over words when reading continuously and for any real
amount of reading a lot of things the IPhone TTS is just a mess.
That's why I want a braille display. I know there is the compact
voice, but she is muffled and her pronounciations are not really much
better or worse over all in my opinion when you average it all out.
Sadly the TTS quality is what keeps me from doing any reading of long
passages on my IPhone.
