Hi Craig,
The PC is always faster considering that pages load a lot faster on the
PC than they do on the iPhoe. If your using Safari, the PC again is
faster, as with Mobile web sites, you don't get access to all of the
navigation features that are available on full sites, such as headings
and landmarks.
However, if your on a WiFi connection and you use a full browser on the
phone, such as either Atomic Web or the inbuilt browser in Downloads,
which can tell the web site that your using desktop safari: this will
give you full access to all the navigation features, so once the page is
loaded navigating the page, reading the info your after and filling
forms is for me about the same as doing it on the PC. There are some
sites that do cause issues on the iPhone, for Example, the full facebook
site allows you to write a comment on someones status, but it's
extremely difficult to click the button to submit the comment.
Email is deffinitely quicker on the PC, as there is far less keystrokes
required. For Example, find the message your interested in, press enter
to open it and your screen reader will automatically read it. When done,
just press the delete key. However on the iPhone, you need to click the
message to open it, then hit the right arrow about 5 or 6 times to jump
past the header information to get to the body of the message. Once
you've red the message, you need to jump to bottom of file, then left
arrow a couple of times to get too, the delete button, then click it. I
always read email with out the keyboard because it's faster, I will then
use the keyboard if I want to type a longer message.
Hope this helps,
Brett

Greetings to the list.
After listening to Dean Martineau's well-managed podcast on Safari
with the iPhone, I began to wonder which operating system, Windows or
iOS, allows the user to be most productive on the net. It occurred to
me that one has to use a great many keystrokes and employ some rather
intricate mental gymnastics to work with the iPhone online, but my
perception may be due to my being a quite new iOS user. I'd be
interested to hear from those with long-time experience with both
operating systems as to which is the more efficient. I'm going to
assume, of course, that a keyboard is used with the Apple device to
allow for faster typing and for commands to be executed rapidly.
Thank you for all help.
Craig
