Bonnie, to answer your question about syncing albums to your phone, I'm going
to give you the directions for iTunes for windows, as I've not ever used a Mac;
I think the instructions should be similar enough that you can get along well
if a mac is what you use.
One. Plug in your iPhone, and then open iTunes.
Two. Navigate to the button that says your iPhone's name, and press enter on it.
3. Tab until you hear either a radio button called summary, or a radio button
called info. The control that you next want to look for (a checkbox labeled
"sync music") is in one of these areas, but I can't remember which. If you
can't find it in one, look for it in the other. You will have to tab through
these radio buttons, not tab through them. You can press space on them to
activate them, though. Check the sync music checkbox...
4. Once you've checked the sink music checkbox, tab until you find those radio
buttons again, and press space on the one that says music.
5. Now, tab until you get to another group of radio buttons. You want to press
space on the one that says sync selected albums, artists, and playlists, or
something similar to that effect. I believe the label has changed slightly in
later versions of iTunes. The other one is called sink entire library, and I
gather from your message that you don't want to do that.
7. Now, go to the view menu, and if it's not enabled already, enable the column
browser. You can customize what shows up in the column browser in the same view
menu, to show different things, such as albums, genres, artists, tracks, etc.
What this does is place all of your music in dynamic lists based on categories.
The reason I called them dynamic is that once you change something in one list,
the others change as well. For example, to find your album more easily, you
might consider going through the artist list until you find the artist. Now,
when you tab to the albums list, the only thing that's shown are the albums for
that artist. If you don't pick an album, the tracks list will show all the
tracks for that artist, from every album that you have in your library for that
artist. However, if you do select an album, the tracks list will kow show only
tracks from that album. I hope this is making sense. It confused me for a while
at first, until I got used to things. Now I don't even think about it anymore.
8. Once you've set up the call of bras are the way you like, tab to the tree
view from the sink selected albums, artists, and playlists radio button. Once
you find your album, check the checkbox. You'll notice that all the artists and
albums and tracks are checkboxes. Just check the ones you want, then tab to the
apply button. Press that, and wait for the ascending tritone. After that, you
can close iTunes and unplug your iPhone.

If you want to change what's synced to your phone, you'll have to go through
the whole process again, checking the things you want to add and unchecking the
things you want to delete.

Thanks,
Ari
