Back in the days of transcription from tape Dictaphone had a two-pronged earphone setting. It was most annoying when a cord broke. I was ever so glad when I could turn mine in for a Sony machine that used standard pedal and earphone jack. I really do not wish to have two separate types today, as I remember how difficult it was to replace the nonstandard earphones back in the 1980s.
(Dog chewed one cord) and it took me two weeks to replace it. Meantime I had to play dictation through the speaker which was annoying to my husband.
