I agree that listening to an audible book using the audible app is much easier than transferring the books to the stream, and I have listened to audible books using the app when I am at home. But I find the sturdiness of the stream device better suited to crowded public transportation and in general, to crowded venues than are the apple devices. But I am glad to hear that many on this list find audible quite accessible and enjoyable.
