Yes, you can also keep your iPhone 4S or 5 but that is only a temporary solution since if Apple does illuminate the 3.5mm jack then it will most likely stay illuminated so eventually you don't have a choice. I am not hearing impaired, but apparently there are some undesireable consequences for people who are hearing impaired if the device doesn't have a 3.5mm jack. An adapter will probably eleviate these, but it does mean one needs to have an extra, most likely very small and easy to loose part with you and considering Apple charges $19 for a stupid piece of string or whatever they use as a wristband for the Apple TV remote, I assume such an adapter won't come cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if it would be at least $19.95 to $29.95 and knowing Apple, they won't include it with the iPhone if they include a Lightning headset except of course maybe in EU countries where they are forced to include such items in order to meet certain standards. I am pretty sure, for example, that in EU countries Apple has to ship a Lightning to Micro USB adapter with all Ios DEVICES.
