OK, i understand the micro USB standard but, if Apple uses lightning
connector for the iDevice end and the standard USB to connect to PC
with standard USB what will I get with the cable with lightning on
one and the micro USB on the other end? And this is what lightning
to micro USB means to me.

Both
the EC and the IEC agreed to settle on a standard charger for cell
phones with a data connection. You can read more at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_external_power_supply This
ended up being the open standard for micro USB.
The European Parliament mandated that all smart phones will use
micro USB connectors by 2017. Here's an article on that decision
http://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2014/03/european-parliament-rules-apple-must-use-the-micro-usb-standard-port-for-european-idevices-by-2017.html
Both of these articles, as well as others you can find on the web,
talk about the inconvenience to the end user and the accumulation
of e-waste generated by proprietary connectors.

Hi!
Agreed but there always be other manufacturers. I wouldn't buy
power
adapter other than Apples but a piece of cord is just piece of
cord and
the manufacturer is not so important.
Regarding lightning to micro USB, it is not shipped, atleast
here in
Croatia. We get standard USB to lightning cable for PC
connection and/or
connection to power adapter. Thinking of it, what would be the
use of
micro USB to lightning anyway?

Yes, you can also keep your iPhone 4S or
5 but that is only a temporary solution since if Apple does
illuminate the 3.5mm jack then it will most likely stay
illuminated so eventually you don't have a choice. I am not
hearing impaired, but apparently there are some undesireable
consequences for people who are hearing impaired if the device
doesn't have a 3.5mm jack. An adapter will probably eleviate
these, but it does mean one needs to have an extra, most
likely very small and easy to loose part with you and
considering Apple charges $19 for a stupid piece of string or
whatever they use as a wristband for the Apple TV remote, I
assume such an adapter won't come cheap. I wouldn't be
surprised if it would be at least $19.95 to $29.95 and knowing
Apple, they won't include it with the iPhone if they include a
Lightning headset except of course maybe in EU countries where
they are forced to include such items in order to meet certain
standards. I am pretty sure, for exa
mple, that in EU countries Apple has to ship a Lightning to
Micro USB adapter with all Ios DEVICES.

You won't lose your headphone jack. You can keep your iPhone
6's when the iPhone 7 comes out....

I'm willing to sign such a petition,

these

Friends,
If the rumours are true, the iPhone 7 will have a
non-standard,
proprietary headphone jack -- meaning piles more cash for
Apple and
miles more e-waste for the rest of us.
Sign this petition to get Apple to stick to the standard
headphone
jack on the iPhone:
