Hi, Sieghard!
Yes, I got it now. I must have lost the thread between cables and adapters and I thought you mean a cord with micro USB male on one and lightning male on the other end.
Regarding cables, the thunderbolt I got with my old 4S still works great after more than three years and just as the lightnings I got with iPod 5G and 6S Plus recently so I'll check the market when something will be broken.

Hi Jordan,

The use would be exactly the same as with a 3.5mm to Lightning adapter if you could only use Lightning port headphones on future iPhones which is that you can use a standard Micro USB cable to charge or connect your iPhone.

Also, a cable is not necessarily a cable, you should only buy cables which are certified for Apple products. I was recently driving with somebody and my phone was very low on power and I wanted to plug it in to their car’s power. The person had a cheap cable they bought somewhere and when I plugged in my iPhone 6S a message was displayed on the screen that this cable was not supported or something like that and my iPhone did not charge. I only used it because it was already plugged in, as soon as I pulled out my own original Apple cable out of my backpack and plugged it in everything worked fine.

Also, a year or two ago some lady in China used a non-Apple cable and she plugged in her iPhone in the bathroom. She picked it up with wet hands when she was having a bath and was killed from an electric shock. At first this was a big headline in the news and Apple was blamed and then it was revealed that she was using a third-party, non-certified charger. Having said that, there are plenty of much less expensive cables out there which are certified, I have some of the Amazon Basics as well as some from Monoprice.com and they all work fine.

Regards,

Sieghard

Hi!
Agreed but there always be other manufacturers. I wouldn't buy power adapter other than Apples but a piece of cord is just piece of cord and the manufacturer is not so important.
Regarding lightning to micro USB, it is not shipped, atleast here in Croatia. We get standard USB to lightning cable for PC connection and/or connection to power adapter. Thinking of it, what would be the use of micro USB to lightning anyway?

Yes, you can also keep your iPhone 4S or 5 but that is only a temporary solution since if Apple does illuminate the 3.5mm jack then it will most likely stay illuminated so eventually you don't have a choice. I am not hearing impaired, but apparently there are some undesireable consequences for people who are hearing impaired if the device doesn't have a 3.5mm jack. An adapter will probably eleviate these, but it does mean one needs to have an extra, most likely very small and easy to loose part with you and considering Apple charges $19 for a stupid piece of string or whatever they use as a wristband for the Apple TV remote, I assume such an adapter won't come cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if it would be at least $19.95 to $29.95 and knowing Apple, they won't include it with the iPhone if they include a Lightning headset except of course maybe in EU countries where they are forced to include such items in order to meet certain standards. I am pretty sure, for exa
mple, that in EU countries Apple has to ship a Lightning to Micro USB adapter with all Ios DEVICES.

You won't lose your headphone jack. You can keep your iPhone 6's when the iPhone 7 comes out....

I'm willing to sign such a petition, since I don't want to lose the

petitions have to get some attention, and I may be the only one who
feels this way, but if it helps, that's my $0.02.

Friends,

If the rumours are true, the iPhone 7 will have a non-standard,
proprietary headphone jack -- meaning piles more cash for Apple and
miles more e-waste for the rest of us.

Sign this petition to get Apple to stick to the standard headphone
jack on the iPhone:
