I like that there are additional alert options for events in Fantastical, such as 10 or 45 minutes before, or even 12 hours, or several days. If you need more than 2 or 3 days, you can choose custom and pick a date using several picker controls. For instance, several medical appointments have snuck up on me in the last few weeks. As a result, I have started setting an alert for the next appointment a week ahead of time. Also, the 12 hour alert is good for when I have a blood work appointment where I need to fast. Then I get the alert the night before which helps a lot. I have had some issues with Fantastical not keeping some appointments in a recurring series, but not enough for me to ditch the app and look elsewhere. I plan my life around my Fantastical calendar. I also love that calendar events and reminders are in the same app.
