Hi, I suggest you go to your iPhone settings followed by notifications. There
you will see all of the apps that can push notifications to you. You want to
ensure that when you're go into to an app that notifications is on and that
the appropriate notification is selected whether you want a banner or
interrupting notification.

Hi, Sieghard!

Thanks for your response. I actually am not getting notifications at all, and
yes, the speak notifications in VoiceOver is turned on. All my apps are turned
on and I've always had speak on locked screen on, even on my other phones.
It's quite a dilemma. I just went in and checked all the settings again and
they are as I've had them. I usually get notifications from CNN, Headlines, a
couple of my local television channels, and my FitBit device, among others.

Thanks again and take care!

Hi Esther,

The fact you still have your old iPhone does not matter with respect to
notifications on your new phone. If set up correctly Notifications should
speak. Maybe you can explain exactly which notifications you want and how you
want them. Do you want them to show up on the lockscreen and/or in notification
centre? Do you want Voiceover to automatically speak them? You may want to
check in Voiceover settings for the "Automatically speak notifications" toggle
and turn it on if it is off.

Sieghard

Hi, Alan!

Thanks for responding. Concerning the native mail app, the three-finger
placement on the unread message is great! However, as far as my notifications
are concerned, I do have all the apps on in the Notifications app and I'm still
not getting them. Maybe it's because I still have my iPhone 6+ and everything
is still on it. I'm not going to wipe it clean yet until I get my Music
straightened out.

Thanks so much for your suggestions.

Esther,

Apple changed the way the native mail app works in iOS 10. Even with preview
turned on in your settings, you'll need to touch the screen with 3 fingers to
initiate a Voiceover preview of the email with focus. If you're using message
threading and the thread with focus contains more than one message, you can
single finger swipe until you hear expand thread and double tap and the
messages in the thread will appear below it. Swiping right to each message in
an expanded thread will result in Voiceover speaking your preview number of
lines without the three finger touch previously mentioned.

I would think you should check Settings, Notifications to see what you have set
for each app.

I'm not sure about your music but I would start by going into iTunes with your
7 plus connected to your computer and making sure you have the music you want
transferred to your device appropriately synced within iTunes.

Subject: A Couple of Problems

Hi, All,

Since I bought my 7+, I've been having some unusual problems. First of all,
under Settings, and Mail, which is now separate from Contacts and Calendar, I
have my Preview set to two lines. When I look at the Unread messages, the the
two-line preview is not read. This I can't understand.

Another problem is that I'm not getting notifications. I still have my old 6+
and haven't wiped it clean yet because I want to transfer all my music
purchases. AT&T did transfer everything over from the Cloud, except for a lot
of my music. I realize that I have to sync with my Apple computer, but it only
brings over songs that I've purchased from iTunes. It doesn't transfer any
songs that I bought from other sources or brought over from CDs. I turned off
all the apps under Notifications on my 6+, and also turned off syncing to other
devices when I purchase apps or anything else under iTunes and App Store.

Any help I can get to solve both of these dilemmas would certainly be
appreciated.
