No … setup is not possible at all, and neither is advanced features such as 
programming a schedule.

 

You can set the heating/cooling mode, and the temperature; you can see the 
temperature and humidity, and you can turn on/off the fan.

 

Some of the advanced settings are sort of accessible, once you have a sighted 
person help you understand the layout at first, as these screens in the app are 
labeled with a lot of buttons which just say ?on/off”, but you cannot tell 
which setting they pertain to.

 

Finally, there are times when the thermostat cannot connect to wifi, or is 
having some other error condition, and these errors are displayed only on the 
thermostat itself, and you cannot get to them via the app.  

 

So, it’s ok if you have a roommate/partner or neighbor who could help you in 
these situations, but I cannot recommend it to a person who is blind, and 
doesn’t have easy access to sighted help.

Well, I just learned that the nest thermostat is on sale at Best Buy for $199. 
If I had bought it at that price and got a $75 rebate, the cost would've come 
down to $125. Or thereabouts. In any event. That's not bad when you consider 
that $125 for thermostat like the nest is really good price. So if anybody's in 
the market, this would probably be a good week to check on this.

bit more it’s at least about 18% and the new LED fixtures are brighter, put out 
a nicer light and of course there is no more florescent hum, they are totally 
silent.

temperature which is done in half degree Celsius increments.

The Sensi is also accessible. I chose this device because it is, supposedly, 
accessible with the Amazon Echo, but I have not yet gotten this part completely 
figured out. The company will provide phone tech support but I have not had the 
time to call. Using the app, I am able to control temperature settings and 
switch from air con to heat; my needs are fairly basic although the Sensi has 
several desirable features.
