First, let me say that both applications are very good, but if I could only have one, it would be nearby explorer, no question. There are a few reasons, first, it offers turn by turn guidance, second, it's much more responsive in speaking updates, for example, when you change direction, unless you disable it, your new direction of travel and upcoming street are automatically spoken within a few seconds.
