AFAIK: the Gorrila glass types make no difference to usability, this is their purpose. But if you need tactile marks, the hotdots or whatever it was, serve some purpose. Most do without, so it's back to protecting against scratching to maintain value of device, so worth it later in the resale market. Could help survival chance in drop conditions, but still can't bank on it.
