That's not necessarily true. I had the same issue with my phone before I sold it on EBay. Google is your friend. I found a community form, and they mentioned a program called "IReb" It fixes the currupt files on your phone, and then you are able to update. If you can't find it, email me off list or iMessage me, and I will send it or put it in my drop box for you. My info is below. The program is pretty simple. You download it, plug your phone in to the computer, run it or allow it depending on what system you are using, and after about 30 seconds, your phone reboots twice and your good to go. HTH
