I can't speak for everyone, but in my case, my mini IPad, because it is smaller than my laptop or desktop computer, works very nicely when I am traveling.
If I want to read for awhile or listen to a podcast, it is also more convenient to use at night after I have gone to bed. I could use my phone, but I don't like phone calls interrupting what I am doing on my mini IPad.
