At this point all I can suggest is that you check your mail settings both on the computer, the iPhone and the gmail website (I assume it is your gmail account you are talking about?). The only explanation for what you are describing is that something is not setup correctly. Have you had your account set up with IMAP on your computer and on your phone before and was it working?
