If VoiceOver is on but speech is off, you might hear clicks when touching the screen; but you would still have to use VoiceOver gestures to do anything. It is pointless unless you just want to keep VoiceOver silent; so it doesn't announce things etc. And, about screen curtain; it has been shown that if you leave screen curtain on for a little while; the screen brightness is turned to zero. So, if dimming the screen saves battery; so does screen curtain. Richard
