Sieghard I took the plunge and updated my phone.
I did the update over itunes after I first rebooted the phone. I am a lucky bastard, I cannot encounter any of these bugs. However the notification center is a bit bumpy and the vo cursor is not that accurate but then again it is workable if you control sometimes putting one finger in the middle of the screen. When starting the config, I was really frustrated and unsatisfied. I also lost my extended Belgian speech voice and redownloaded the voices but they could first not be installed. I could only set the Dutch standard voice and so could nolonger alter my belgian syntesizer like speed and pitch. What a mess! I was asked to configure Apple Pay which I cannot do because that is not at our disposal with my bank account. When I hit the settings item it always said one item as if there was an update or so. I also lost my rotor languages and could not re-establish them. All my foreign language voices had disappeared I believed. In settings/accessibility/voiceover speech I couldn’t even add any languages while the item had been greyed. But then: positive conclusion. I was always told an iphone is busy with indexing the ios version together with the packing-up of apps to the ios13 standard formats, matching settings and so on. So I left it alone and went out to eat and when I came back. I selected my syntesizer and it came up. I went to check my rotor languages and the voices were there again and the item to add languages could now be selected just fine. I reset my language standard to belgian Dutch and I could adapt my syntesizer in the rotor on the fly again, yeah. I restarted in settings the configuration of Apple pay that was left and I was prompted to log in to my apple account and I decided to configure it later in the wallet and hurray the item disappeared in my settings app. So my conclusion: as you decide to update, do it at night and go to sleep after updating. Just configure it, leave your phone on the lightning connector and make sure it is connected with wifi and I am sure 7 our later, you can just set your phone to your needs without any problem. I feel so sorry you have this bug but I never make calls with bluetooth or even wired headsets. Regards, liebe Grüsse and thankx for your support Sieghard. Davy Regards Davy From: Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Thursday, September 26, 2019 5:08 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: for ios13.1 updaters who is affected by the severe telephone call bug Davy, It is no the iPhone which crashes totally, this bug seems to effect Voiceover and other sounds. I have had this happen, but afterwards my sighted wife said everything worked as normally on the phone except there was no sounds, i.e. Voiceover obviously was not talking, but also if I said Hey SIRI there was no triple tone to indicate SIRI was listening, but on the screen it came up and it was listening, when my wife called my phone did not ring, but on the screen she saw her incoming call and could answer it etc. Interestingly enough when this happens all vibrations are also disabled including the little vibration you get when you flick the mute switch and which is usually a good way to see if the phone is still on when Voiceover goes away. The only vibration you get is a very small bit of haptic feedback when you press the home button, at least for me I get it because I have an iPhone 8 with the virtual home button. Not sure if you would get anything on an iPhone 10 or, for that matter, on a 6S or earlier which still have the mechanical home button. Toggling Voiceover off and back on occasionally fixes this, but not all the time. Sometimes it’s even gone after I call the phone from my landline at work or ask somebody to call it and I answer that call and then hang up. It’s definitely a strange bug which some people have reported also happens for them with Skype or other Voip apps, for me it rarely happens if I only use the phone to answer calls or even with a Bluetooth headset, it usually happens if I use my wired Earpods, ask SIRI to call somebody and then hang up using the headset remote. And mybe a workaround : what about asking siri to call someone and hang up later without the bug? Regards Davy -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
