I find it interesting that I prefer to wear my Apple Watch, and leave my iPhone at home, when I go to the gym, but I have all the activities Turned off on my watch. I use the Apple Watch to stay in touch, keep current on news and stocks, and to listen to music while I workout, but I am not interested in the information that most people Rely on the watch to provide. I started out with the Series 2. It got the job done, but the volume

used it to track my health data and to check the time via Haptic Time.
This means the time can be vibrated depending if you do 2 or 3 taps on
the watch. A coworker sold me a Series 4 a couple of months ago, and
the difference has totally been night and day. Series 4 with VoiceOver
is so much more responsive and stable than the Series 2. I still use
the Series 4 for health tracking and Haptic Time, but I am also able
to turn the volume to a decent level for me to hear and receive
notifications on the watch. I could probably live without one, but the
Apple Watch has become a nice accessory, and one that can track my
steps, heart rate, and other information too.

I started out with the series one Apple Watch when they first came out. I
didn’t think it was too bad until I got my series for about a year ago. The
difference is night and day! It is so much faster and so much better. I got
the Cellular model, so I can make calls and I don’t have to be tethered to my iPhone. I use my watch a lot, but there’s days that I leave it at home.
As I said before, I’m kind of a gadget nuts so it’s one more toy in my
toybox!
But I probably should point out, I do not think there is anything that I can
do on my Apple Watch, that I cannot do on my Apple phone. So it is a
peripheral, but not necessary.

What series of Apple Watch is he giving you? If it is a series 2 then
you’ll be in for a frustrating experience and it may turn you off newer
and faster devices. My wife and I have both a series 2 which we bought in
the fall of 2016 after it came out. For my wife who is sighted it’s not
too bad, but I find when Voiceover is running it’s incredibly slow and
sluggish. The other day we went for a long walk and wanted to record it
and she had started the work-out in about 5 seconds and it took me maybe
30 by the time I switched to the watch face where I have the Workout
complication, then when I tapped it, it took forever to load and I
actually had to press the digital crown once since it just seemed to hang,
then try again until it finally came up and I could select the workout.
We both ordered the new series 5 watches now and I am very curious to see
how much nicer the experience will be.

Subject: Apple Watch tips

I never really wanted an Apple watch, still not sure. My son is getting
the new one and will give me his old one. I’m going to try it out. I’ll
be using it with Voice over. Any quick tips to get started would be
appreciated to give it a test run and see if I want to keep it. Thanks.
