Well, this is only my experience. I have tried every part of the screen, every kind of Z and even an up and down motion for as long as I have been using iPhone which is since 2013. I only ever got it to work about 4 times in that span of time. Maybe my shaky hands? I don't know, but thank you Apple for giving me the ability to assign another gesture to it. With mail it has been a fantastic thing. When I finish a conversation I just scrub with 3 fingers tapping 3 times and I go back to the inbox and can swipe up to delete. Of course then there is using it to dismiss notifications, hoping very soon it goes back to dismissing itself like before 13. Just so glad we have options!
