The phones are meant to be water proof down to I believe it's a meter (3 feet
+/-)
For up to approx. 30 minutes.

How ever soapy water could be a problem as the chemicals in the soap may be an
issue.

Good luck.

Subject: Help, What to do about a briefly submerged phone

Hi, all.  I'm so ready to kick myself.

I know the newer iPhones are water resistant, but how resistant?

I was in the kitchen cooking and had my phone on the counter so I could use the
speaker phone.  I moved a dish towel and woops, my phone slid off the counter
and into a full sink of soapy water.

This is an iPhone 12 Pro that has a Zag case on it with a tempord glass screen
protector.  The case has TPU bumpers on the edges of the phone and a hard shell
on the back and halfway up the sides of the phone. None of the ports are
protected like the battery charger or speakers.

I scooped the phone out of the water as soon as it happened and was able to
continue my conversation with no sign of the phone malfunctioning. It seems to
be Okay, except the edges of the case where the TPU touches the screen are
damp.  The speakers sound Okay and all of the buttons are working.

Do I put it in a bag of rice or what?  Ironically, I have a day before I need
to return it to Verizon.

How soon can I safely plug the phone into a brick charger or should I
even try??

HTH.  And yes, I feel really dumb.  I'm going to price Otterbox cases
now.  <sigh>
